Frequently Asked Questions

How are the rankings calculated?
YouNoodle has designed an algorithm to calculate each university's significance as a startup community. Significance is determined by factors including the number and quality of the startups in the university, activity of its groups, business plan competitions, availability of talent and investment in the area, and the success of past startups.

Who uses the leader board?
More than 100 top journalists covering technology and culture are on YouNoodle to find the hottest startups. Many of the startups featured are discovered through groups. Since June 2008, YouNoodle has helped more than 20 startups get their first major national media coverage, including USA Today (America's #1 newspaper), The Telegraph (UK's biggest quality newspaper), Smart Money (Wall Street Journal), and more. So if you have a startup or know others that do, make sure it's represented on YouNoodle!

How can I send you my feedback?
We'd love to hear your perspective on the list. Please write to us at feedback@younoodle.com.

How often will the list be updated?
YouNoodle will likely publish an updated version of the list in early 2009.
