ABOUT US
Zilok is an online peer-to-peer rental marketplace where people can rent anything to or from anyone. The company was founded in Belgium and is today msot active in the USA and France, with fast growing sites in the UK and the Netherlands. By the end of 2008 it counted voer 280.000 unique visitors every months, over 60.000 memebrs, and 100.000 items posted for rent.
The service, open to both individuals and businesses, allows members to offer items for rent, with specific rental agreements to suit their needs. The search engine is location-centric allowing users to find the most suitable item for hire near them. Owners may accept or refuse rental bookings, and Zilok only charges commission on confirmed rental transactions. Rentals happen face to face, improving the trust factor, and all details may be defined between owner and renter once the rental is confirmed by both sides and contact details are shared by Zilok.
Zilok's commission is charged on the site from the renter, in form of a retainer fee that confirms the renter's commitment to the rental transaction.
The company was founded by 3 very different and complementary European entrepreneurs, with prooven track in online Marketplaces; Marion Carrentes, Gary Cige and Thibaud Elziere.
