ABOUT US
WaterPLUS is a global social venture aimed at providing innovative point-of-use water purification systems based on germicidal ultraviolet LED technology. A point-of-use purification system maximizes the public health impact and the technology used allows it to be affordable at the household level. WaterPLUS is a triple-bottom-line private company that places a high priority on social return on investment while still being financially sustainable.
We have a diversified team of students that includes the a M.D./Ph.D in public health, director of a succesful NGO, a public health oriented water resources grad student at UNC, a mechanical engineering student at Duke involved with Engineers Without Borders, a patent law student at UNC with engineering background, and an electrical engineering graduate student at Stanford.
Winner of Best Social Venture at the Duke Startup Challenge, 2nd place overall at Duke Startup Challenge earning $15,000 in awards. 2nd Place finish in the Global Health category of the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition at the University of Washington, earning $2,500 in awards. Current finalist in the Carolina Challenge at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Honorable mention in the William James Foundation social competition.
