The lab aims to research and experiment different field of knowledge and put the inspiration into action in order to design a better world.

2.what does multi-disciplinary art and design lab do?

There are three departments in the lab:

1. Prototype:The lab will write some specific topic related through daily observation focus on the original discipline of the knowledge, for example, architecture, biology, physics, chemistry, psychology, economics, business, marketing, music, drama, finance, education, literature, computer science, art, etc.
2. Experiment:Mix or experiment with the multiple disciplinary knowledge in order to bump into more inspirition and innovation. For example mix psychology and drama to display monologue of yourself. By the way the lab show the inspiration from the perspective of art and design.
3. Action:Put the innovation into action in order to make a better world. That’s the most important department of this lab and also what the social responsibility lies in.

实验室有三个部门:

Disciplinary is a term used to describe types of knowledge, expertise, skills, people, projects, communities, problems, challenges, studies, inquiry, approaches, and research areas that are strongly associated with academic areas of study or areas of professional practice (profession). For example, the phenomenon of gravitation is strongly associated with academic discipline of physics, and so gravitation is considered to be part of the disciplinary knowledge of physics.

6.what’s the meaning of “multidisciplinary“?

Multidisciplinarity is a non-integrative mixture of disciplines in that each discipline retains its methodologies and assumptions without change or development from other disciplines within the multidisciplinary relationship.
There are many examples of when a particular idea appears in different disciplines, at about the same period. One case is the shift from the approach of focusing on “specialized segments of attention” (adopting one particular perspective), to the idea of “instant sensory awareness of the whole”, an attention to the “total field”, a “sense of the whole pattern, of form and function as a unity”, an “integral idea of structure and configuration”. This has happened in painting (with cubism), physics, poetry, communication and educational theory.
