Soren Nedergaard has been appointed by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to the position of Technology and Research Attaché at Innovation Center Denmark - A Danish Government Office in Palo Alto. Prior to joining Innovation Center Denmark in October 2006 Soren Nedergaard held a position as Private Secretary to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. The Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is responsible for universities, research driven innovation and the information technology and telecommunications sector in Denmark.
Soren Nedergaard's key goal at Innovation Center Denmark is to connect universities in Denmark and the San Francisco Bay Area. His role is to facilitate interaction between researchers and students aiming to find common ground for joint research projects and exchange of researchers and students. An important task is also following US trends to form Danish science and innovation policy.
Since 2001 his focus in the ministry has been research, higher education and technology transfer. In partnerships with private companies, universities and the public innovation system Soren has worked with the Danish biotech cluster, the global market for higher education, reforms of university governance and the Danish government's 2006-strategy of technology and research driven growth in the global economy.
Soren Nedergaard (age 34) holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Aarhus, Denmark. As a graduate student he spent six months working as an Assistant Attaché at the Danish Permanent Mission to the UN in New York City.
