FULL BIO

With both accounting degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Southern Queensland (Australia), I worked as financial manager for 9 years since 1988. I started my own executive search firm since 1997 and began the career as consultant.

My specialist is in business development, strategic planning and execution. I always look for challenges in deals making, having them done in various creative ways.

I have developed series of training modules about entrepreneurship, such as: skills of business plan writing, how to start a business with HK$100,000 and venture capital funding perspective. Currently I am working for the CUHK Center for Entrepreneurship as the Project Director for organizing business plan competition, research, training and angel investment forum. I am also the advisor and business consultant for aNobii, which is a global book marketing service provider.

Description: I was appointed as the Project Director for a new project namely "The Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge". This is an annual business plan competition to be held on 26 May 2007 for undergraduate and graduate students from all the tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. The program aims to strengthen government, university and community collaboration and launch programs that have constructive and worthwhile outcomes for society while enhancing and channeling students’ entrepreneurial acumen in demonstrating social responsibility. Description: SmARTlens is an intellectual properties oriented, privately held, US corporation. It has created an optical device for motion picture cameras called the Hylén Optisystem#, in honor of its inventor, Steve Hylén. The Optisystem# includes a housing and multiple lens elements that fit between a camera and its taking lens. Through patented optics, this device creates an Intermediate Focal Plane# in which the user is able to produce a variety of creative effects by inserting various modules into the housing. The first application using this space is the Select Regional Focus Control# (SRFC) module, which will be adopted in new Panavision camera system by 2004.

Description: PAC is my first business venture with some CUHK alumni since 1997. It is an executive search firm mainly for senior management. Starting from zero, I acquired skills of recruiting by self-learning and practicing. Thanks to the reputation of my partner, Mr. Heung Shu Fai, the company survived under the depression economy. Later I diversified my network to more financial oriented business, such as fund raising and venture capital financing. Sooner I met good partners from pharmaceutics sector and found another consultant firm namely PAC BioSciences Consultants Ltd.

Description: Warrantex is a normal garment manufacturing and trading company in Hong Kong, with substantial turnover per annum. I was employed primarily to restructure the accounting system. My achievements are: (1) computerisation of accounting, merchandising and shipping departments; (2) improvement of banking facilities; (3) formalisation of internal control procedures.

Employer: China Satellite Launch Agent (HK) Ltd.
Position: Financial Manager
Time period: March 1992 - May 1993
Description: CSLA was established as a joint venture by government officials from China and businessmen from Hong Kong. The main business was to develop satellite launch services. Unfortunately this was not feasible due to political conflict with another state owned enterprise. The company was closed in 1994. I was the founding employee to help setting up the company in Hong Kong.
