FULL BIO
Lucky Gunasekara was born in 1983 in Toronto, Canada to Sri Lankan parents who had immigrated to Canada escaping the Sri Lankan civil war. Lucky grew up in Canada, the UK, and South Florida, until 2001 when he began his undergraduate studies in Neurobiology and Behavior at Cornell University as a Tanner Dean's Scholar, where he graduated with distinction in all subjects and was honored as a Baccalaureate Service award recipient for his work overseas. He was also a Freeman Fellow in 2004 and an Executive Committee member for the 57th Japan America Student Conference. From 2006-2007, Lucky studied public health at Kwansei Gakuin University in Kobe, Japan as a Fulbright Fellow. From 2008, Lucky consulted as an associate consultant in medical devices and online media for the HR recruiting firm Optia Partners in Tokyo, Japan. From the fall of 2008, Lucky has begun his medical education at Stanford University. He was recently honored for his work on MobilizeMRS by former President Bill Clinton personally at the 2009 Clinton Global Initiative University.
