FULL BIO

After more than 25 years of sales/bizdev at tech start-ups in Silicon Valley, I moved to the Mendocino Coast becoming passionately involved in a quickly-developing grassroots, community action to continue to preserve and protect the Mendocino Coast.

In February 2007 PG&E applied for a preliminary permit to generate electricity from hydrokinetics or wave energy off the Mendocino Coast. Recently on March 13, 2008, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved PG&E's Prelim Permit to perform feasibility studies and the permit supports PG&E's right to DEPLOY wave energy devices as quickly as possible.

From the onset of this process FERC has denied the City of Fort Bragg, a local fisherman organization, FISH and the County of Mendocino 'Motions to Intervene.' Thus completely refusing local stakeholder input as they move swiftly forward.

For over 30 years, Mendocino Coast locals have embraced safe alternative, sustainable and renewable energy technologies. Now with the looming prospect of wave energy devices and farms of these devices bobbing along the Mendocino coast without a shred of public or local government participation, we are overwhelmed with our concern of the effects of wave energy devices on all sea creatures, the rich flora/fauna of our upswells and the local economy depending on tourist and sea-related dollars.

From these colliding positions (PG&E corporate goals, FERC's misleading energy development process and locals/municipal governments) around this very current topic of renewable energy devleopment, our focus toward creating a Cleantech R&D, Test & ThinkTank on the Mendocino Coast on the entire waterfront of Fort Bragg, California becomes a longer-range goal.
