FULL BIO
Dan had harbored dreams of a byline in "The New Yorker," but decided the model was doomed. He became a tech entrepreneur, started a recommendation engine company and worked on it until all the cash had evaporated.
He deemed it necessary to survey the landscape before making another entrepreneurial move. As it happened, the opportunity to do exactly this appeared on VentureBeat, Matt Marshall's rising star of a blog.
As a writer for VentureBeat, Dan had relatively easy access to entrepreneurs and venture capitalists -- which is to say they returned his calls. He wrote about companies arrayed across social media, search, online advertising, mobile and e-commerce, with a bit of AI and other mind-bending future-tech mixed in to keep things surreal.
He moved to the business side of VentureBeat, where he did product management, planned and marketed conferences, sold advertising and did all the other sorts of things one does on the business side of a world-class blog
It's one of the most brilliant teams he's encountered. They will do amazing things.
