FULL BIO
Antony Abell leads the private company LastMile Communications Ltd in the design of the new wireless World using a global, picocell, low power, low cost, memory caching, wireless information system. The vision is to bring 'intelligence to the edge of the network' (or to 'Turn the Internet inside out!') and to provide a new, more intelligent, more aware, form of a wireless content delivery platform to the global marketplace. The technologies being deployed are user specific, location sensitive, always on and provide a fundamental shift to how both users and the providers of information and services (especially media & advertising companies) interact with their information and their communities. Current design points are to exceed the capability and undercut the costs of both the fibre, mobile and satellite communications delivery platforms in bot global and local delivery environments.
Originally from Canada and now settled in the United Kingdom. Educated at Upper Canada College in Canada and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Studied economics and political science before working at the House of Commons at Westminster and then serving for nine years in the British Army. During the period 1989 to 1992 he was the coach/manager of British National Cross Country Ski Team and participated in the 1992 Winter Olympics. Post army work was with Videotron (Cable & Wireless) in the cable industry before starting his first start up in international logistics with C-Three Logistics Limited which he ran from 1995 to 1999. LastMile is his second start up and was formed in 1999.
Antony is also Chairman of the BandSharing Forum and has been pioneering shared use of glabal spectrum for future mass harmonised spectrum release.
