Supervised by: Dr. K.S. Sangwan, Assistant Dean, Engineering Services Division, BITS-Pilani Title: FEM analysis of orthogonal metal cutting in ABAQUS. Description: Simulated and did the complete Stress and Temperature analysis of orthogonal metal cutting process using ABAQUS. Numerical and visual analysis was done for various tool geometries and cutting parameters. Results were verified with practical results. x Study Oriented Project, 2008 Supervised By: Dr. Nagendra Parashar, Assistant Dean, Practice School Division, BITS-Pilani Title: Micro and Nano Manufacturing Description: Studying various techniques involved in advanced micro and nano-manufacturing and designing a course under Prof. B.N. Parashar for undergraduates at BITS Pilani. It also involves study of latest developments in Nanotechnology and future prospects of the same. x Internship Project, 2007 Supervised By: Mr. N.C. De, Manager, Texmaco Ltd. Title: Study of operations at Steel Foundry Division Description: Study of manufacture of boilers, Railway wagons, Hydraulic spluice gate for dams and heavy machineries. Operations involved sand-casting, Welding, Heat-treatment, Sand blasting, Machining processes, painting, etc. Also got an exposure to working of giant Gantry cranes. x Technical and Business Project, 2007 Supervised By: Mr. Ashok Mittal, Proprietor, Diamond Steel Products, Delhi Title: Spent Pickle Acid Regeneration System for Steel (SPARS). Description: SPARS is a novel process to regenerate the acid from the waste pickle liquor used in steel industries. The prototype won as the best project award at APOGEE 2k7 and the business-plan made on it won 3 International and 3 national business-plan competitions which accumulated prize money of Rs. 3 lacs. x Technical Project, 2008 Title: Electric scooter with vertical parking Description: A concept bike with foldable seating and steering arms making it portable. It has a provision to park the vehicle vertically in a cabinet floor space of 1 sq. feet. Project was designed using Pro-E and CATIA and all parts were fabricated indigenously. The project won for best project in APOGEE2k8 (An Annual National level Technical Festival). x Technical Project, 2008 Title: Wall Climbing Robot Description: An indigenously developed robot that can climb on any ferrous metal wall. The robot had three degrees of freedom and capable of performing repair and paint work in high steel structures. It is specially suited for industries with huge steel structures and need frequent repair or surveillance. |
