WORK EXPERIENCE

Employer: McKinsey & Company, Inc.
Position: Project Manager
Time period: January 2006 - December 2008
Description: Led McKinsey and client teams in structuring and solving problems, conducted analyses (including market sizing and financial modeling), formulated recommendations, prepared and made presentations, implemented change programs.
Served clients in Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Spain, Brazil, China and India. Responsibilities included:
• Technology business building and venture capital:
• Designed and managed development of an online personal wealth business. Performed market research to understand customer needs, developed product specifications and IT requirements, and set revenue projections.
• Brought together a consortium of large NZ companies to form a US$300m e-procurement hub. Developed the business plan, including the customer offer, competitive analysis, pricing and management reporting system.
• Advised a global telco on technological and business-system changes to improve enterprise-wide collaboration
• Led the development of an online Indian agricultural trading portal. Managed outsourced software developers, developed pass-through pricing system, negotiated technology agreements and hired management team.
• Designed the corporate governance, funding mechanisms and organization structure for a US$220m corporate venture capital arm for a large Australian financial institution. Managed the review of the first round of pitches.
• Provided advice to a US$140m listed investment trust on potential investments in media and entertainment sectors, likely acquisition prices, and internal rates of return on those investments.
• Authored several internal McKinsey knowledge documents on technology venture design and nanotechnology.
• Operations and strategy:
• Lead the post merger management of IT systems (over 18 systems including yield optimization, pricing, ticketing, flight operations, and critical maintenance systems) of two European airlines
• Led a client team of five to design and implement a sales monitoring system to optimize pricing across a national salesforce at a large construction company
• Led a large client team to overhaul pricing, purchasing, logistics and organization processes, successfully turning around an insolvent Australian agricultural company with revenues of US$350m.
• Managed a large client team at an Australian bank to realize US$450m over 3 years, primarily through initiatives targeting performance management, pricing levels, and sales channel management.
• Worked directly with senior management at an investment bank to identify and generate over US$150m in new revenue through implementing proactive performance metrics and coverage models for its salesforce.
