  • 1. Sign up and create your profiles at the EIC 2008 Competition Community

EIC 2008 uses a brand new service for Case and Business Plan Competitions called YouNoodle.

EIC 2008 is proud to be the 1st competition outside of USA to use this service.

You must create a profile (much like on Facebook) and a Team Page (click "add a startup").
Then you can submit your entry to the competition (Deadline 5th of May).

Meet entrepreneurs from Stanford - the Entrepreneurship Association "Bases" at Stanford already has a community at YouNoodle. Browse YouNoodle to get great contacts and extend your network internationally.

  • 2. EIC 2008, Cases 4, 5 & 6 - Case Presentation Event #2, 7 April, 18.00-20.00

Case Presentations 4, 5 & 6. Meet with the researchers and get inspired!
Come to the event, mingle, and find your teammates...

Monday 7th of April, 18.00-20.00 at Sing-Sing, Lindstedtsvägen 30, KTH main campus

CASE #4 - ERICSSON MOBILE MASHUP CASE
    Olof Lundström - Ericsson Research

    Ericsson Betatest IMS Platform
Ericsson provide an open Betatest platform for application development, with access from all Swedish 3G networks. The challenge for you is to come up with ideas of new Service Blends that potentially could be developed on top of this platform, and to investigate their business opportunities. With a "Service Blend" we mean a new mobile/Internet application that combines typical Internet services with the communication functionality provided by the Ericsson Betatest platform. Examples of possible Service Blends include virtual, persistent games, health monitoring, sell/buy services, and photo blogs with positioning. The more communication intensive your Service Blend is, the bigger the advantage of the Ericsson Betatest platform.

CASE #5 - Solar tracking system
    Karim Najar -KTH

Solar tracking systems increase the efficiency of all applications based on incoming sunrays. One obvious example is in solar energy generation where sun tracking can increase the efficiency with up to 35-40%. This innovative solar tracking technology is based on a mechanical construction that allows a solar panel, mirror, or any other suitable object to be directed towards to the sun all through the day. Making better use of daylight and sunshine can have a big impact on the energy efficiency and energy generation in a number of applications. The versatility and comparatively low cost of this technology can make it interesting in a number of applications.

CASE #6 - Holographic display for 3D visualisation
    Jonny Gustavsson - KTH

Visualisation is key in countless applications today. Normally we see visualisations on screens, regardless of whether they are in 2D or 3D. However, 3D visualisation on a flat screen has limitations and this problem is hard to get around. This innovative holographic display technology can give real time 3D holographic visualisations which could be useful in a number of different applications. Unlike many other 3D technologies there is no need for special glasses or other extra equipment.

    Guest speakers:
Mikael Samuelsson - CEO at SSE Business Lab, Assistant professor at SSE and Serial Entrepreneur
Niklas Tyllström - Founder and CEO of the successful start-up Green hat People

Meet with company representatives from Ericsson research!

As usual we will serve sandwiches, wine and beer at the mingle after the presentations.

Win an iPod! We will give away an iPod during the event...

Free to come, bring you friends!

The case presentations also will be published on YouTube shortly after each presentation

  • 3. EIC 2008, Cases 7, 8 & 9 - Case Presentation Event #3, 8 April, 18.00-20.00

Case Presentations 7, 8 & 9. Meet with the researchers and get inspired!
Come to the event, mingle, and find your teammates...

Tuesday 8th of April, 18.00-20.00 at Sing-Sing, Lindstedtsvägen 30, KTH main campus

CASE #7 - Operator independent peer-to-peer networks for mobile phones
    Gunnar Karlsson - KTH

Mobile phones and other mobile devices with a number of different communication capabilities are abundant today. In the way they are used today they primarily communicate with each other via a network provided by a mobile phone or internet operator. This innovative technology instead allows for direct communication and transfer of information between mobile devices without going through the operator networks. This makes each mobile device a potential sender and receiver of information. This is novel ground and the potential applications for this technology are many.

CASE #8 - Effective information transmission in sensor networks
    Niklas Wernersson - KTH

There are several situations where sensors of some sort are connected in a network to measure things or otherwise detect something. This innovative algorithm can make the transfer of information from different sensors more efficient. More efficient information transfer can allow all the parts in the system to run more efficiently and may potentially open up for new innovative uses of the systems. The technology is very general and can therefore be applied to a number of different applications where information is transferred between sensors in a general sense.

CASE #9 - KREDITOR The hunt for the new consumer
Hampus Breistein - Kreditor Europe AB

Building the bank of the future
The bank offices are rapidly closing in on their expiry date: old
technology has been replaced by new and routines have been exchanged for
possibilities and challenges. Which are the banking services of the 21:st
century? How does one combine the need for security with that for
    technological flexibility?

    Guest speaker:
Joe Armstrong - Inventor of the programming language "Erlang", Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Bluetail

As usual we will serve sandwiches, wine and beer at the mingle after the presentations.

Win an iPod! We will give away an iPod during the event...
