1. 2008 Business Idea Competition Winners
For its fourth consecutive year, the EnterPrize Business Idea Competition awarded prizes of $1,000 each to its best ten business ideas.The aspiring entrepreneurs were recognized in a private event held at V Suárez Company attended by numerous leaders of the business, academic and government community as well as venture capitalists and successful entrepreneurs.
The awarded aspiring entrepreneurs were:
(1) Gregory Mojena : The In-Sink Trapper is the first household unit capable of decreasing the Biological Oxygen Demand load of municipal wastewater treatment plants.
(2) Guadalberto Camacho: Virtual Medical Dosimetry is a virtual dosimetry service and treatment planning for cancer patients to radiotherapy centers in US, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
(3) Heliris Roman: Green Solution Inc. plans to develop green walls and roofs for the Puerto Rico market.
(4) James Cuellar: Admire Media is a hybrid service providing professional photography and Internet directory to restaurant owners.
(5) Joedh Rivera: The company will revolutionize the mobile restaurants industry by redefining its concept, offering high quality service, attractive prices and a superior product.
(6) Jorge Ferrer: GreenCeiling Technologies introduces an environmentally friendly and responsible solution to minimize energy consumption offering a 100% natural system that is easy to implement in an existing infrastructure, easy to maintain and cost effective.
(7) Claudia Aponte: The Barber Shop is a haven for men who want to get the classic haircut, in an elegant gentleman's club style ambiance.
(8) Raquel Buitrago: SPICE AIR Inc. is a start-up low-cost passenger airline, with one-way fares starting at $49 directly competing with American Eagle one-way fares starting at $450 in the market. SPICE AIR will service 7 islands within a 200 mile radius of Puerto Rico.
(9) Ryan N. Oliver: his company will provide a recollecting recycling service in which the households will be rewarded financially by recycling.
(10) Samantha Arzon : Microbiology Quality Laboratory (MQL) will provide quality control and quality assurance services for the pharmaceutical and environmental industries by establishing a Microbiology reference laboratory for microorganism identification.

2. Entrepreneur's Summer Boot Camp
Our next event is the Entrepreneur's Summer Boot Camp, to be held at the Bayamón Campus of Interamerican University next June 14th. This entrepreneurship development course will provide participants with the basic elements and tools to further develop a business opportunity. Skills from idea validation to financial projections, the course will discuss the key success factors for an entrepreneurial start up.
The six hour class curriculum will be complemented by case study analysis and true business examples. It was designed to encourage an interactive class discussion amongst participants.
The course is open to all current & aspiring entrepreneurs who really want to put his or her business idea to the test. University students as well as professionals are welcome to enroll in this event. After attending this course participants will be better prepared to evaluate their business opportunity, develop a value proposition for their products or services, more clearly identify their target market, and analyze the competitive landscape and understand the fundamentals behind a profitable business model.
The workshop is also a valuable resource for professionals and college students that plan to participate in the Business Plan Competition next August.
