  • 3. The Cambridge Apprentice

The Cambridge Apprentice, hosted at the Judge Business School on 14 November 2009, is a first for the University and startup cluster, and was organised jointly by Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club (CUTEC) and Cambridge University Entrepreneurs (CUE). During the one-day business challenge, over 100 students and young professionals competed to create innovative solutions for start-up businesses. The event was supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and kicked off the clubs’ participation in the 2009 UK Global Entrepreneurship Week

Challenges were set by our team of mentors, who run their own businesses and know what it takes to succeed. This event provided opportunities for networking with professionals, industry experts and local business entrepreneurs.

  • 4. Silicon Valley Comes to Cambridge

There is nothing like meeting a dozen or so iconic serial entrepreneurs to inspire you to set up or join a start-up after graduation. This event illustrated why joining a start-up is SO much more worthwhile than going into consulting or banking after graduation.

A highlight of our entrepreneurial year is the Silicon Valley Comes to Cambridge Summit, scheduled for 19, 20th November 2009 here in Cambridge. The summit, powered by NESTA and organised by CfEL, CUE, CUTEC and MBA Ventures was an extraordinary gathering of leading minds from around the world, including students, alumni, faculty, and special invited guests. A number of serial entrepreneurs from Cambridge and Silicon Valley assembled a timely and thought-provoking program that generated lively discussion on the important issues of how to best build or join the companies that will change the world as we know it today.
